Back to School

We got through the first full week of school. Thursday to Thursday. Next are the back to school picnics, etc. We have a car pool this year. That's a first. But I still get to drive to one school most mornings. This is good, it gets me to work early. The boys have tons of extra curricular stuff. Jen will soon, I'm sure. I normally don't like getting back to this routine; however, I am finding myself more resigned to it. It won't stop just because I don't like it, so I might as well make it work. Enjoy it...some of it at least. This new attitude is probably due to my age. One of the few benefits of getting older is more acceptance of things that cannot be changed. You know, the second part of the serenity prayer.

Yahoo poll

Yahoo Finance has a pol asking what your doing presently in this market. There are three possible responses... 1. Buying, 2. Holding tight, or 3. Selling. The results after 268,000 responses? Buying 33%. Holding 56%. Selling 12%. So the Dow closed down 387 points today. What's wrong with this picture?

Newsflash! Might be a bad pol! In reality, someone (many someones) are selling, and doing so aggressively. I hope the central banks can navigate through this one! It's getting scary.

Misc... and George

Sen Tom Coburn is going to introduce a "universal" (his term) health care bill. It includes insurance companies; however, the government pays all, or part of the premiums. He says it is based on the Swiss model. Hmmm. I don't know anything else about the bill. I don't think the politicians should get away with calling health reform bills (which this is) "universal" health care. It's deceiving.

I just finished "The Chamber", by John Grisham. I like every book I've read of his. Next, I think I'll go back and read the Harry Potter series now that I know how it ends. At least I'm going to start. If I get bored with it (since I know the end) I'll stop. I am also reading "Tortured For Christ", by Wurmbrand. It's an old book. His attitude is remarkable. It's an easy book to read, and it's free for the asking from Voice of the Martyrs, Inc.

Let's see what else. The PGA is in Tulsa this week. Why do they have golf tournaments here in August! People are being taken to the hospital for heat issues! It's over 100 degrees out there! In 4-6 weeks it will be beautiful weather here. Golf then...this is crazy. OK, that's it for me I guess.

I'm going to add an email my father sent to me reportedly written by George Carlin after his wife passed away. I have no idea if that's reliable; however, it's worth reading....makes this a long post!
