At church today I sat next to, and met, Jessie. It turns out she is from main line China. She is here to study engineering. She is a communist, and not a Christian. She was going to church to learn about different aspects of American culture. I have never met a real born and raised communist. Only fake wannabes back in my college days. Anyhow, I hope to talk with her more.

Sorry, I thought I told you! We go to Jenks Church which is/was a Church of Christ (it's not in their name). Very open, inclusive, Biblical thinking. The whole church studied "A Generous Orthodoxy" together. They have a great band, and down to earth meetings. I mention the band, as a traditional COC would not have instruments in worship. ( Number 132 on my list of why "church", the organization, not the "two or more gathered" is weird! How about you? Where do you all go now?
Ask her about Taiwan - the answer should be interestng - or if you don't want to get into a fight, don't ask her!! (which is probably best) renegade province and all that.
we're going to an independent, fairly conservative church. got invited and never left. no great shakes. not very connected. i lead kids' worship once a month.
