DOW
Big news all week. The Dow is at record highs. Well, that's great if you own the Dow...( 30 companies in all). The S&P 500; however, is not back to breakeven after 5 years! So much for indexing. Actually the S&P making new highs would be quite an event...(500 companies in all).

no, the S&P 500 is not back to the irrationally exuberant highs of 5+ years ago. but i take comfort that the NYSE is trending up as a sign (not the only one) of basic economic health. would you agree?
