Isn't it ironic?

First, the notion that Democrats will tax, and regulate our country into a socialistic disaster are clearly not true. Look at the Clinton Presidency...higher taxes, but not crushing taxes. A budget surplus, and no socialism.
Now isn't it ironic that in the last 8 years we have not only eroded our civil rights (Patriot Act, Military Tribunal Act, Warrantless wire taps, etc.) We regulate education more than ever, (No Child Left Behind)...And now we have now socialized the banking system! (Freddy Mac, Fannie Mae, AIG, and massive oversight to come.) It will affect us all, trust me on that one. It is also ironic that minimum oversight, and regulation might have averted this melt down. So, who brought us big government, and socialism? Not to mention that after over 20 years have still not delivered on Roe v Wade. The Republicans. I've heard the counter arguments, and they are weak as Ohio State Buckeye football teams in high profile games. The Republicans brought us socialism either because they have a false ideology, they can't govern, are lying about the "small government" platform, or a combination of all three.
I hope we wake up.

Unbelievable. This 700B bailout is just another example of looking at economic charts and not the fact that the biggest problem with capitalism is greedy, selfish people - I have taken over 35 hours of economics and nobody really accounted for that.

Now no discretionary money for real needs like health care - Thank you Republicans - way to hum

Jim, I am glad to have access to your blog! We need to hear all sides of the story. And I have enjoyed reading your posts. I believe both sides of the isle have some ownership in this failure. The talk shows I listen to on the radio and the news channel I watch point out that Democrats like Barney Frank were saying a few years back that Freddie and Fannie were fine. And that John McCain was pointing out there was a problem with Freddie and Fannie. What is truth?

I agree, there is plenty of blame to go around.

blame 'em all!

the Bush Administration has been a disaster, generally speaking. maybe you and Charlie and i should do a top 10 worst list. nominees: Iraq with poor planning, cut taxes and spend, extreme partisanship, Axis of Evil for Iran instead of engagement.
