I don't support Palin, but the US is pretty resilient place. We brought Bill Clinton into office and he was the governor of Arkansas - which a lot of people think is hill-billy central (outside of West Virginia and Kentucky of course :-) Who knows - depends if has any good people around her. Let's just hope it doesn't come to all that.
I guess you can make the "it will all workout" argument, or the"no one is really ready for the presidency" argument. However...
This seems to be a different time than when BC was elected. And the fact that we have had a Pres who frankly, was not up to the job (he was out of his league...hey, I would be as well) should make us all examine carefully these potential rulers...Are they smart? wise? what do they believe about the world (world view)? How do they see the world (Philosophy of life)? Palin's frequent comment that "you can't blink" when dealing with dangerous situations also bothers me. A wise ruler has got to change course when they have been wrong (they blink).
That's all for now...except...speaking of not blinking; the fact that McCain jumped to conclusions, and is still disseminating half truths about the Georgia situation also concerns me about this ticket. Don't blink! Even if your wrong, even if it spills American blood...that view of the world has gone on too long. ...That's all, I mean it this time. Good to talk to last night Charlie.
It is a big world with lots of problems. I am not sure Obama, McCain, or any one person can do it on their own. Thus the president will have the cabinet, ambassadors, another advisors who have their own areas of specialization.
I think what we need to look at is the candidates' moral fortitude, fiscal philosophy, and the like. They will "flesh out" their support team based on those.
Was Abraham Lincoln prepared for the crisis he faced? Only in that he knew, in the words of someone you and I know, "who he was, whose he was, and where he was going."
Yeah, I know this video is weak...and I agree the presidency not a one man show.
It's funny, and I know I'm alone on this, but Republicanism has become equated with Christianity, and I don't see it. So most of my comments (which I've decided to stop, by the way) attempt to shed light on that falsehood.
So I've thought things through for a long time. It started with groups like FOF aggressively attacking the Clintons. It got ugly...and it did not appear Christlike. (maybe more OT "prophet like"...HAHA) I know there is a whole Theology that embraces that...and they get into trouble frequently!
So I started to look past the pundants. And I saw that the Democrats were not unpatriotic, tax and spend, gay loving, baby killers. Nope, not at all. I saw people who love America, desire to preserve freedom, and want equality for everyone. And frankly, "tax and spend" seems more responsible than Republican "borrow and spend"... :-) If you're going to have a govt program, you have to pay for it, not just do the program and borrow more money for it.
Personally, I like Obama for a lot of reasons, one being that he has really tried to promote unity. We are Americans first (that's his line, I think) We all have so much in common. We all agree on more than we realize. We need more of that message...and less mud slinging. So, this is exactly the kind of comment I said I was going to stop...Sorry...it's not really a post anyhow. ;-)
