For Sale

This is cool! I've been selling some stuff on EBay this year. Last week I put my old HS trumpet up. I thought, "It's an old trumpet, but I've taken good care of it. This brand is expensive new, so I might get my money and a little extra out of it". Within 24 hrs I had over 20 emails asking about serial numbers, and bell inscriptions. It turns out this horn is a collectors item! I have over 10 bids and 50 watchers, with 3 more days on the auction. I've heard from collectors, and from professional musician's. So I'm kind of excited to find out where this ends. It's been fun,

Where it is tomorrow, today.

My sister-in-law called today from Taiwan! (Tomorrow today, get it?) It was nice to hear from her. She even said she reads my blog! (Hi Laura...) My brother couldn't talk because he was in bed asleep. (What??)

The markets are at record highs...with one important exception...the S&P 500. It is a broader market indicator than the DOW (500 vs 30 companies). Get this, if all you had done for the last 15 years is hold the S&P; that is, you held it through the entire bull market of the late 90s, and held through the whole bear market in early 2000 until now; you are still NOT whole. It's simplistic, I know, but worth noting. If you watch financial news, you may have noticed we have not heard much from John Bogle. If the S&P moves to a new high, I wonder if we will.

Jen asked me to go shopping with her yesterday. She had a bathing suit on hold. The sales clerk brought it out, and I argued that it was not a bathing suit. It was two small scraps of cloth; they were $45...each. She did not try it on.
She said she would go shop with her mother later...good.
On the way home, she reminded me she would be driving by the end of this year. I said, "No, you are my little girl. You do not drive, and you do not wear bikinis." :-)

The Voices of Reason

Sean posted about a concept called the Fair Tax (Check "Interact"...Google it). I like this! It amounts to replacing the income, corporate, estate, and property taxes with a national sales tax. I think many times the ideas that are really sensible are drowned out by the noise from those who benefit from the status quo.
I have heard not one good argument opposing a National sales tax. In fact, most of the rebuttal does not make, even common sense. Maybe, I have not heard everything.

Rock and Roll

This is cool. Luke was asked to try out for this metal band here in town. And...he's in! The band members are a little older, but not too much (like 20). Anyhow, they are one of the better bands in town. They get local air play on the radio and will tour this summer (regionally). His sister says Luke is "tourist". I told him when he makes it big and starts buying people Escalades for their birthday; that plain white is fine for me. Nothing special... :-)

Now, time for the big game. Go Bucks!

Ohio State/Florida

Remember the BCS Championship? I had a good feeling about the Buckeyes chances against Florida and we got killed.
Well, I have a bad feeling about our chances tomorrow night.
