This is it....

I think I'll take a blogging sabbatical. I think a lot of this interaction...which was minimal here...true...has moved to FB...which is also getting tiresome...the next big thing is always just around the corner... :-)

In conclusion...

We don't belong in Afghanistan, or Iraq.
Everyone in the country does not deserve, or need to own a gun.
Decent health care should be a right, not a privilege.
No law abiding citizen should be discriminated against, or marginalized.
Jesus was a socialist...(If you don't believe that, read Acts.)
And at the end of it all...God always wins...

Bye for now.

Amen! Agree on all points - If people read the gospels or Acts they would have to agree with you.

glad you're not shutting down or deleting the weblog. who knows? maybe it'll come back.

don't necessarily agree that something to replace FB is coming. some people prefer Twitter, but not me, and FB has HUGE participation that makes it really strong.

and i only agree with 2/6 of your statements ;-)

Jesus was no socialist. he didn't care about government or economics. but He did most certainly believe in radical generosity within His body and to the needy outside of it. and His Church today is far, far from that ideal and example.

best!

Sean...I understand your position...I'm just trying (probably poorly) to make a point...and trying to provoke thought about caring for others, that's all.
Pure Capitalism, or Objectivism (which seems to be gaining popularity again) will never lead to compassion, and caring...I don't consider myself a socialist; however, it bothers me when people use the term to equate to something evil.
When I say, "Jesus was a socialist"...I am not making a technical, theological statement. However, I am referring to the technical, theological arguments that deal with how Jesus teachings, and principles might apply to politics/social issues today. It is a very interesting study, and not "capitalist"/"objectivist", or even "conservative" at all.
All that said, do you disagree with me? Just curious.
