Cheyenne

I have been around dogs all my life. I showed dogs as a kid, and worked at a kennel in HS. This is my dog, Cheyenne. She is a Great Dane, and is a remarkable animal. I think she has been my favorite dog. Tomorrow I have to go put her to sleep. She has gotten sick and is in a lot of pain. I'm going to miss her.

Why I like Hillary

I first started paying attention to Hillary Clinton because of what you might consider a character issue. I want to put the account on my blog. However, since then she has proven herself an effective Senator. She has seriously attacked the disaster we call our health care system (IE. she has guts). And she has been in the White House. At this time in our country's history we need leaders who "get it", who have "been there"...
So, back to the character issue. Hillary was giving an interview after her husband was caught cheating on her to a conservative journalist (don't remember the name). This interviewer got right to the subject at hand. He asked if she was going to divorce Bill. She replied "no". The journalist started trying to corner her. "What about adultery! What about infidelity?" he said. She snapped back "What about forgiveness?!"
I thought to myself, "Wow, what side of this conversation would Jesus support?" Hillary's, I think...no, I'm sure...check out the story of the woman caught in adultery. She demonstrated strength of character there, an important leadership trait. I don't know who I'll vote for next year for president; however, Hillary Clinton has my attention.

New Hobbies

I've started collecting coins. No reason, I just like them. It is interesting to me to hold something that was in use say 50 or 100 (or more) years ago. Just a "bridge to the past". I bought some Buffalo Nickels. I paid too much, but it kind of got me started. I'm surprised at all the coins for sale on EBay.

My wife is trying to get me to start yoga. We missed the first class last night. (Darn!) My oldest kid said " Dad, when you can sit with both your feet behind your head, please never do that in front of me. I just don't want to see you doing that." Funny kid...he has nothing to worry about!

HAHAHA!!! JK... I suppose I'll go read his website again.

We love plumbers! We have had plumbers out to the house four times in the last month. There goes the summer vacation!! (JK again.) We'll have a summer vacation even if it means using credit cards. Ugh.

Syds uncle died. That's why she is out of town. It's a sad time that is even worse because her mom thinks that if you don't believe in Jesus, you burn in hell. But not just that. If you don't believe along a specific, narrow set of conditions you still burn in hell. And that's not the end of it! If you don't follow rules concerning the sacraments; and confession, and repentance you still burn in hell. I wish that was all! You can never be sure you got it all right! You are dealing not just with a vague list of rules; but overt sin, covert sin, and sin of the heart, and mind. Death is terrifying to anyone who believes this way. She grieves a long time after a loved one dies. Saddest of all, she has thought this all through. She is convinced she is right. It's impossible to discuss. I've been praying for her. I know she is really hurting now. And the thought of God does not comfort her.

It's quiet this Friday night. Sydney is out of town. Max is at a sleepover, and the other two kids are out. So I've been doing some reading. Here is what I've been up to lately. I finished, "The Pentagons New Map" which I enjoyed. Globalization is suggested as an important piece of the puzzle, which can preserve civilization as we know it. I wonder if the author has commented on the developments in Iraq since he published the work. (I'm sure he has.) I gave the book to my dad to read. I look forward to discussing it with you dad!
I also just started two other books. First, "The Sacred Cosmos" by Nichols. He is a Catholic Theologian. The book is an attempt to reconcile science and religion. It is mostly philosophical, and I've found it quite interesting. I also just started, "The Forgotten Soldier". This is a memoir of a German soldier during WWII. My brother, Charlie (an avid WWII buff) recommended this one. Soon everyone will be home, so I believe I'll go back and read a little longer...

The Buzz

I've had nothing to post lately. My parents came out last weekend from Ohio. We went to the "Abraham thru Jesus" archaeological exhibit. I was disappointed at $12.50 a head. It was almost all pottery. So, if you like pottery...

I liked the Super Bowl. I wasn't rooting for either team; but, I got to watch it with my dad. "Prince" did a surprisingly good half time show. He's a great guitar player. I was told he gets $100mm for each CD he puts out...up front! Wow, that's almost as much as I make. HAHA...I'm laughing at my own joke.

My UTube account is still screwed up. So, still no videos.

I was stunned that the astronaut; Lisa Nowak, pulled that stunt on the other chic astronaut. She's gonna be guilty, at a minimum of first degree assault. What was she thinking!
